My idea of shopping is going to a farm auction. So when I saw an auction listed in LANCASTER FARMING (my normal Saturday night reading material) specializing in "antique farm-related stuff" I put it on my calendar. Marla even decided to go with me since she likes "old stuff" too.
But what I was really looking for was four barn door hinges. I'd been looking for barn door hinges for over a year but could never find the right combination of correct size, quantity and all matching. . . until today. A friend told me I would most likely have to pay anywhere from $40 to $50 apiece. (And I would have to buy 5 because thats how these were sold). So, this could cost me $250 if I nodded to the auctioneer at the right time. I could hardly believe it when the auctioneer looked at me and said, "SOLD, for $40". (Not $40 a piece but $40 for all five! !) Yep, these did come home with me! ! Looking forward to making my barn doors and hanging them on these hinges. Realistically, it will probably will be toward fall til I get it done. So many projects, so little time. Oh well, I never have to wonder what I'm going to do next.
Happy tilling,
Todd
