Usually, by this time, I have some things planted in the raised bed part of the garden - not this year. The only progress so far is that I covered the raised bed with plastic in hopes of trying to encourage the ground to warm up a little.
MAYBE by the end of this week I'll get a few seeds in the ground.
The next two months will be a little crazy around here. The spring and early summer is the busiest time of year - after the inactivity of the winter (except for shoveling snow) it will soon be full steam ahead. My to do list is looking something like this: till the garden (two different times), plant the raised bed and the big garden, get the three little pigs started, haul a lot of manure out of the barn and onto the compost pile, and get the 50 broiler chicks started. This is in addition to all the other regular spring yard work and such. FUN, FUN, FUN! !
REST FOR YOUR SOUL
In the Old Testament the prophet Jeremiah says these words (Jer. 6:16).
"Thus says the Lord, Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths, Where the good way is, and walk in it; and you will find rest for you souls.
As our culture rushes fast and furious toward industrialism, materialism and techno wizardry more individuals and families are finding themselves frazzled and fractured than ever before. Could it be because we have forsaken the "ancient paths"? But what are the "ancient paths" that we have forsaken? The first and formost path our culture has forsaken is that of walking in humble obedience to our Creator and Redeemer God. I believe the other ancient path that America has forsaken is the path of an agrarian lifestyle. God is the one who invented and instituted the agrarian life at the dawn of civilization. As far as I can tell this agrarian mandate has not been abolished or changed. I suspect that the "good way" is found in walking in humble obedience to God and to His calling for us to "care and tend" His magnificent creation in meaningful, purposeful ways. May you find "rest for your soul" by faithfully walking in "the good way".
Agrarian blessings to you my friends! !
