A lot has happened here at Lil Bitty Farm in the last few months so I'll try and catch you up on the highlights.
In Sept the Big Dawg (my oldest son, Ryan) borrowed a small excavator from his boss and brought in over for the day. The goal was to run a water line from the house to the barn so that I could have running water at the barn for all the animals. (I've been carrying water in 5 gallon buckets two or three times a day, 365 days a year, for more than 15 years. That's a lot of trips up and down the hill with heavy buckets! !) I purchased all the supplies I needed ahead of time and had them on hand when Ryan showed up with the machine on Sat. morning. Ryan started digging at 8:00 am and we had running water down at the barn (about 100 feet away) by 3:00 pm the same day. God blessed us with beautiful weather that day and almost more importantly - we didn't hit any big rocks that could have really made the job a lot harder! ! The ditch was backfilled and grass reseeded and about a week later the grass was coming up nicely. I almost can't believe it still - now I walk leisurely to and from the barn without carring the heavy buckets of water. At my age, that is MONUMENTAL and something to be very thankful for! ! Thanks for a job well done buddy! !
Not sure if I will get another blog off before Christmas, so in case I don't I wish you all a very Merry Christmas. I hope you will take time to ponder the meaning and message of the Christchild, born of a virgin, in a humble cattle shed so many years ago. Though the story is more than 2,000 years old I never tire of hearing it. . . The Son of God willingly takes on human flesh, is born in a smelly animal shelter, the son of common peasant parents. The whole purpose of His life is to die for you and me so that we can be forgiven from our sins and be reconciled to God. That is beyond amazing! !
Merry Christmas my friends!
Todd
